Steps to Calculate Tree Age

Step 1: Start by measuring the trunk circumference of the tree. Use a measuring tape and wrap it around the tree at chest height (around 4.5 feet from the ground). Ensure you measure in inches.

Step 2: Identify the species of the tree. Different trees grow at various rates, so knowing the exact species is crucial for accurate calculations. Select the species from the provided dropdown menu, which includes common species and their associated growth factors.

Step 3: Input the trunk circumference and select the tree species on the form. Double-check your entries to ensure correctness.

Step 4: Press the “Calculate Age” button. The tool will compute the age using the formula: Tree Age = (Circumference ÷ π) × Growth Factor.
