How HCPSS Grade Calculation Works

Full Year Courses (1.0 Credit)

Each quarter grade is multiplied by 2, midterm and final exams are counted as 1 each. The total is divided by 10.

Example: Q1: A(4)×2=8, Q2: B(3)×2=6, Midterm: B(3)×1=3, Q3: B(3)×2=6, Q4: A(4)×2=8, Final: A(4)×1=4
Calculation: (8+6+3+6+8+4) ÷ 10 = 3.5 → Final Grade: A

Semester Courses (0.5 Credit)

Each quarter grade is multiplied by 2, final exam is counted as 1. The total is divided by 5.

Example: Q1: C(2)×2=4, Q2: B(3)×2=6, Final: C(2)×1=2
Calculation: (4+6+2) ÷ 5 = 2.4 → Final Grade: C

Courses with State Assessment

For Biology and American Government, each quarter grade and state assessment is worth 20% each.
