Long Service Leave Calculator
Long service leave (LSL) is a paid leave entitlement for employees who have worked for the same employer or within the same industry for an extended period, typically over 7–10 years. The entitlement, accrual rate, and calculation method can differ by Australian state or territory, employment type, and whether there have been changes in work hours or pay. How to Use the Long Service Leave Calculator
Step One:
Select your state or territory from the dropdown menu. This ensures the calculation uses the correct rules for your location, as long service leave entitlements and formulas can vary significantly between Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and other regions.
Step Two:
Enter your employment start date and end date. The end date can be today’s date if you are still employed. This information is used to determine your total period of continuous service, which is the foundation for calculating your entitlement.
Step Three:
Input your ordinary weekly pay before tax. This should reflect your current regular pay, excluding allowances, bonuses, or overtime (unless you are a casual employee, in which case the casual loading should be included). This figure is used to estimate the gross value of your long service leave payout.
Step Four:
Provide your average weekly hours. If your weekly hours have changed in the last two years (for example, you moved from full-time to part-time), select “Yes” when prompted. You will then need to enter your average weekly hours for the last 52 weeks, last 260 weeks, and for your entire period of employment. The calculator will automatically use the highest average, as required by law in some states, to ensure you receive the most accurate entitlement.
Step Five:
Click the “Calculate” button. The calculator will instantly display your estimated long service leave entitlement in weeks and the corresponding gross payout.
