    UCAS Points

UCAS points are a numerical value assigned to post-16 qualifications in the UK. Universities and colleges use this standardized system to compare different qualifications during the admissions process. The UCAS Tariff converts your grades into points, allowing institutions to set entry requirements in a flexible way that accommodates various qualification types.

Each qualification (such as A-Levels, BTECs, or Scottish Highers) is assigned points based on the grade achieved. For example, an A* at A-Level is worth 56 points, while a Merit in BTEC equals 32 points. Many universities specify their entry requirements using UCAS points rather than specific grades, giving students more flexibility in how they meet these requirements.
