What is Thirumana Porutham?

Thirumana Porutham, also known as marriage compatibility or horoscope matching, is a traditional astrological practice used in many parts of India, particularly in Tamil culture.

It is a method of assessing the compatibility between two individuals for marriage based on their birth stars (nakshatras) and other astrological factors. The process involves analyzing ten different aspects or “poruthams” to determine the overall suitability of the match.

How to use the Thirumana Porutham Calculator?

1. Enter the Boy’s Star
Select the birth star (nakshatra) of the prospective groom from the dropdown menu. This information is typically based on the individual’s birth chart or horoscope.

2. Enter the Girl’s Star
Select the birth star (nakshatra) of the prospective bride from the dropdown menu. Like the boy’s star, this is based on her birth chart.

3. Provide Birth Dates
Enter the date of birth for both the boy and the girl using the date picker. This information helps in calculating more accurate results, as some poruthams may take into account the specific planetary positions at the time of birth.

4. Calculate Porutham
After entering all the required information, click on the “Calculate Porutham” button. The tool will then process the data and generate the results.

5. Interpreting the Results
The calculator will display the results for each of the ten poruthams:

  • Dina Porutham: Compatibility of weekdays
  • Gana Porutham: Compatibility of temperaments
  • Yoni Porutham: Physical and sexual compatibility
  • Rasi Porutham: Zodiac sign compatibility
  • Rasyadhipathi Porutham: Compatibility of zodiac lords
  • Rajju Porutham: Longevity of the relationship
  • Vedha Porutham: Absence of obstructive influences
  • Vashya Porutham: Mutual attraction and control
  • Mahendra Porutham: Progeny and prosperity
  • Stree Deergha Porutham: Longevity of the wife

Each porutham is scored on a scale of 1 to 3, with 3 indicating high compatibility, 2 indicating moderate compatibility, and 1 indicating low compatibility.

6. Overall Compatibility:
The tool calculates an overall compatibility percentage based on the scores of all ten poruthams. This gives a quick overview of the match’s potential.
The calculator provides a brief interpretation of the results:

  • High compatibility (80% or above): Suggests a harmonious relationship with strong potential for a successful marriage.
  • Moderate compatibility (60-79%): Indicates positive aspects but may require attention in some areas.
  • Low compatibility (below 60%): Suggests potential challenges and may recommend further astrological consultation.

It’s important to note that while Thirumana Porutham is a traditional practice, it should not be the sole factor in deciding a marriage. Personal compatibility, shared values, and mutual understanding are equally important in building a successful relationship.

This tool serves as a guide based on astrological principles and should be used in conjunction with other factors when considering marriage.
