How to Use the Rutgers GPA Calculator?
1. Enter Course Information
- In the table provided, enter the name of each course you’re taking this semester.
- Input the number of credits for each course. At Rutgers, most courses are worth 3 or 4 credits, but this can vary.
- Select the letter grade you received (or expect to receive) for each course from the dropdown menu.
2. Add More Courses
- If you’re taking more than one course, click the “Add Course” button to add more rows to the table.
- Continue entering course information for all your classes.
3. Prior GPA and Credits (for Cumulative GPA)
- If you want to calculate your cumulative GPA, enter your prior cumulative GPA in the “Prior Cumulative GPA” field.
- Also enter your total credits earned prior to this semester in the “Prior Total Credits” field.
- If you’re a first-semester student or only want to calculate your semester GPA, you can leave these fields blank.
4. Calculate Your GPA
Once you’ve entered all your course information (and prior GPA/credits if applicable), click the “Calculate GPA” button.
5. Interpret the Results
- The calculator will display your Semester GPA based on the courses you entered.
- If you provided prior GPA and credits, it will also show your new Cumulative GPA.
- Read the explanation below the results for context on what the numbers mean.
The calculator uses Rutgers’ official grading scale: A (4.0), B+ (3.5), B (3.0), C+ (2.5), C (2.0), D (1.0), and F (0.0).
Remember that some courses might be pass/fail or have different grading schemes, which aren’t factored into this basic GPA calculation.
