How to Use the Final Grade Calculator?
1. Current Grade: Enter your current grade in the course as a percentage. This should be your grade before taking the final exam. For example, if your current grade is 85%, enter “85”.
2. Final Exam Weight: Input the percentage that the final exam contributes to your overall course grade. This information is usually provided in your course syllabus. For instance, if the final exam is worth 20% of your total grade, enter “20”.
3. Desired Overall Grade: Enter the final grade you hope to achieve in the course, expressed as a percentage. For example, if you’re aiming for an A (90%), enter “90”.
4. Calculate: Click the “Calculate” button to determine the required score on your final exam. The calculator will display the minimum score you need to achieve on your final exam to reach your desired grade. It will also provide a brief explanation of the result.
This calculator uses a formula that accounts for the weight of your final exam in relation to your current grade and desired grade. It’s important to note that if the calculated required score exceeds 100%, it means it’s not possible to achieve your desired grade given your current standing and the weight of the final exam.
