Gutter Slope Calculator
What is Gutter Slope?
Gutter slope, also known as gutter pitch, is the downward angle at which a gutter is installed to ensure proper water drainage. This angle is crucial for preventing water from pooling in the gutters, which can lead to overflow, damage to the building’s foundation, and potential water damage to the structure. The standard slope is typically 1/4 inch per foot of gutter length, though this can vary based on specific circumstances and local building codes.
How to Use the Gutter Slope Calculator for Proper Drainage
Step 1: Enter the total length of your gutter run in either feet or meters using the length input field. Select the appropriate unit of measurement from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Choose your desired slope ratio from the dropdown menu. The standard option is 1/4 inch per foot, but you can select from other common ratios or input a custom value.
Step 3: If you selected the custom ratio option, enter your preferred slope measurement in inches per foot in the custom ratio field.
Step 4: Click the calculate button to generate your results. The calculator will display the total drop needed from the highest point to the lowest point of your gutter run.
Step 5: Review the calculated results, which include both the total drop distance and the slope percentage. The explanation section will provide details about how the calculations were performed.
Step 6: Use these measurements during installation by marking the starting point at the highest end of your gutter run, then measuring down the calculated drop distance at the opposite end to ensure proper slope.
