How to Use the DLS Calculator?

1. Enter Team 1’s Score: Input the total runs scored by the team batting first in the “Team 1 Score” field. This should be the final score if their innings was completed, or the score at the point of interruption if their innings was cut short.

2. Input Team 1’s Overs Played: Enter the number of overs faced by Team 1 in the “Team 1 Overs Played” field. This can include decimal places for partial overs (e.g., 42.3 for 42 overs and 3 balls).

3. Specify Team 2’s Available Overs: In the “Team 2 Overs Available” field, enter the number of overs allocated to the team batting second. This may be less than 50 if there’s a delayed start or interruption.

4. Indicate Wickets Lost: Enter the number of wickets Team 2 has lost at the point of calculation in the “Wickets Lost by Team 2” field. This is crucial as the DLS method considers resources in terms of both overs and wickets.

5. Select Interruption Type: Choose either “Delayed Start” or “During Innings” from the dropdown menu. This helps the calculator adjust for different scenarios, as interruptions during an innings can have a different impact than those before the start.

6. Calculate the Target: Click the “Calculate Target” button to process the inputs and generate the revised target score.

The calculator will display the target score for Team 2 in the result area. Below this, you’ll find a brief explanation of how this target was determined based on the DLS method.
