How to Use the Pitch Speed Equivalent Calculator

Step 1: Select the League or Enter Custom Distance

Choose the appropriate league from the dropdown menu, which will automatically set the standard pitching distance for that league. If you're calculating for a non-standard distance, select "Custom Distance" and enter the specific distance in feet.

Step 2: Enter the Pitch Time

Using a stopwatch, measure the time it takes for the pitch to travel from the pitcher's hand to home plate. Enter this time in seconds in the "Time" field. For accuracy, it's recommended to take multiple measurements and use an average.

Step 3: Calculate the Speed

Click the "Calculate Speed" button. The calculator will process the input and display the results.

Step 4: Interpret the Results

The calculator will show the pitch speed in both miles per hour (MPH) and feet per second (FPS). Review the explanation provided below the results to understand how the calculation was performed.
